The Library is dedicated to being a leading resource for information, education, culture and academic life, contributing to excellence in education, life-long learning, and adapted to the special needs of Effat University community. The library provides access and guidance to materials both in-house and worldwide, utilizing print and non-print technology. The library goals are to acquire, classify, organize and process information resources in a variety of medium, to support the curriculum of the University, as well as to provide general reference and information sources to support life-long learning and the pursuit of knowledge. The Library team strive for a comprehensive coverage of resources, including general reference collection, that support teaching and learning of existing majors and fields of knowledge related to them. Horizon Library Automation System is an internationally renowned system, enables the transition to automation of all major functions of the Library, including cataloguing, searching, circulation, audio-visual booking, acquisitions tracking, reserve functions, and serials management. The Library’s online catalog (Horizon) can be accessed from outside the University. Basic Searching: Offers variety of direct search options, such as Title, Author browse, Subject browse, Call number browse, Series, and ISBN-ISSN. Advanced Searching: Is used to search for combinations of words or phrases by adding one of the Boolean operators, i.e. AND, OR, NOT. The library is responsible for maintaining an academic library facility containing a comprehensive reference collection in Arabic and English. The library also supports teaching and learning of existing majors and planned programs as well. The primary mission of the library is to instruct students in effective, efficient use of the library and to encourage them to develop habits of self-education so that they may use books, libraries, and recorded communication in all forms for a lifetime of intellectual development. To this end the Library acquires and organizes books, journals, audiovisuals, and electronic information in a variety of digital and other formats for the use of students and faculty.
